LENT 3: REST FOR THE LAND (A STORYBOOK SERMON) - Sunday, March 23, 10AM, On-site & online via Facebook

People need to rest. The church needs to rest. The whole Earth needs rest.  Creation justice is one of the 8 covenant ministries of the United Church of Christ. Today we’ll use a children’s storybook as an invitation to reflection.

Take some time for yourself and enjoy a mindful morning: try out a gentle yoga
class; learn about hand labyrinths, prayer, and body prayer; make a DIY salt scrub
or art book journal. Pre-registration is not required but is incredibly helpful as space
is limited. Folks who register before March 31 will receive a welcome bag. This free
event is open to all adults both in our church and the wider community.

BYO BROWN BAG LUNCH WITH REV. MADDIE
Tuesdays in Lent, 11:30AM -12:30 PM begins March 11- April 15 - Upper Hall; On-site only
Bring your own brown bag lunch to the church and enjoy conversation and community with Rev. Maddie. Come once or come every week, stay for a minute or a while, it would be lovely to connect with you! (If the Upper Hall is reserved by an outside group, we will gather in Rev. Maddie’s office)

 

GENTLE MORNING YOGA

Wednesdays in Lent at 10 AM beginning March 12- April 16 - Upper Hall; On-site only

All are invited to join in this gentle morning practice suitable for all levels led by Rev. Maddie. Bring a yoga mat and any props you like to use. Please note that this class does not use hands-on assist. For those wondering: Yes, Rev. Maddie is a certified yoga teacher! She completed her 200 Level training with My Vinyasa Practice in Austin, TX.

 

EASTER FLOWER DONATIONS

Forms to purchase Tulips ($9.00) will be inserted in your Weekly Bulletin and are also located in the Sanctuary, Upper Hall, and outside of the church office. A wonderful way to remember your loved ones at Easter. All donations will be included in the Easter Memorial Booklet. The deadline for all orders is Wednesday, April 9th.

WORSHIP SERVICES AND OTHER AMICABLE EVENT VIDEOS

Most of our Worship Services or special events are taped or live streamed and then stored on our Facebook page. We were notified that Facebook storage will be going away and no longer offered as a service. We do not have storage locally for all these videos so they will be deleted. Target date for deletion is in 90 days… sometime in mid-May. After the deletion we will only be allowed to store videos for 30 days then the oldest videos will be dropped to make room for new additions.

 

While there is time you can visit our Facebook page videos at (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100064785936823&sk=videos) and if there is a video you would like to have you can download it to your computer to save for your own personal viewing later. Our videos go all the way back to 2014! There are many ways to download videos. Search Google and you will find directions.

​BECOME A SUNDAY MORNING GREETER

Greeting friends and new faces at our sanctuary doors at the start of Sunday morning worship is an incredibly important role you can volunteer for as a member or friend of Amicable. Our United Church of Christ conference has studied church practices over many years and concluded that a person visiting a church for the first time typically decides in the first 30 seconds of being in the building whether they will come back again. Ensuring they are acknowledged, warmly welcomed, and made to feel comfortable are integral to this conclusion leaning toward “yes!” at Amicable.

 

There is a rotating list of Greeters that would love to see more volunteers added to the ranks. If volunteering for this role interests you, please reach out to Kristen Zeiser (Kristen.zeiser@gmail.com).

 

GIRL SCOUT COOKIE SALES

Our Girl Scouts will be selling cookies and taking orders after Sunday services at coffee hour throughout the months of February and March. Stop by! They are delicious!
